Cigna is dramatically expanding its analytic capabilities as we fulfill our mission to help the people we serve have an excellent customer service experience, and improve their health and well-being. The newly expanded Analytics department's primary role in fulfilling the mission is to support Cigna's businesses. Cigna has a growing Medicare business, and the Analytics department supports this business by evaluating current and emerging pharmacy management services, identify programs and aspects of programs that work effectively, best position our business and develop and implement an analytic-based learning model to continuously improve service effectiveness.
Combine expert technical, clinical, and business knowledge to:
Conduct opportunity and trend analyses
Improve customer experience, and quality of care
Develop business specifications and methods for internal operational and external client reporting
Serve as a hands-on subject matter expert for the business.
Typically requires BS or Masters degree in Mathematics, Biostatistics, Statistics, Epidemiology or Business or equivalent mastery and training. Advance degree preferred; minimum 6 years experience in related health care analytics; or any combination of education and experience with two to three years of supervisory experience.
The person in this job will be expected to have the requisite content knowledge related to both pharmacy and general care management analytics. This person will need to work closely with pharmacy management to help them understand pipeline, trends, root causes and opportunities. This person will also interface with finance/pricing/underwriting, clinical operations, product development and marketing departments as key business stakeholders.
Prioritize and coordinate multiple work efforts
Conduct evaluations of programs and outcomes
Lead pipeline, therapeutic class and trend analytic efforts
Lead prospect and opportunity analyses
Lead analyses related to root cause, dashboard/metrics development, business specifications/methods for reporting, etc
Lead analyses related to performance guarantee development, as well as business specifications/methods for performance guarantee reporting
As needed, lead ad hoc analyses for internal efforts and client-specific needs
Help develop business specifications/methods for client-level reporting as well as trend reports
Support the finance and product teams to establish appropriate assumptions related to pharmacy impacts and outcomes
Support efforts by marketing, sales, and product departments to showcase program value
Support the operations team to recommend effective management reporting that links to market statements and outcomes
Leadership competencies with the ability to collaborate with others and establish working relationships, communicate effectively across the organization and at different levels, think and act strategically, and influence key leaders, with demonstrated success utilizing analytics to influence business strategy
Advanced degree (PharmD, PhD, MS, MBA etc) with a focus in pharmacy analytics, health economics, healthcare management, public health, epidemiology or equivalent field and at least 7 years experience in pharmacy-related analytics field
Working experience in health plan, PBM or specialty pharmacy or similar environment required
Demonstrable ability to translate business needs into practical applications and solutions
Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities to improve patient care and lower costs through analytics
Deep pharmacy and healthcare data experience and demonstrated understanding of health care and delivery system processes
Working knowledge of pharmacy and care management best practices
Ability to successfully navigate and contribute in a highly-matrixed environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Analytic capability to derive answers from large, structured healthcare, pharmacy, operational, and consumer data sets
Ability to apply best practices in health services, epidemiologic, and/or pharmacoeconomic study design to evaluate clinical programs
SAS, STATA, R, or other analytic software preferred
