Are you a strong storyteller who is able to think strategically and create compelling, engaging communications? Would you enjoy working on a small-but-mighty and fast-paced team? Are you looking for experience in all areas of communications – internal, employee, business, public relations and thought leadership? If so, then the Communications Leadership Development Program (CLDP) might be a perfect fit. The CLDP is a new program that will give you the experience needed to become a world-class communications professional.
The program is designed to first introduce participants to Communications at Cigna through a 10-week internship experience. Those who impress us during their internship will be offered a full-time position in the CLDP after graduation.
Participants should expect to jump right in with substantive, high-impact projects that will enable you to better understand each of our businesses, as well as how we operate as a company.
Recruiting for the Communications Leadership Development Program begins annually in September and runs until November
Who we hire:
Rising seniors with a Communications, English, Public Relations, or Journalism Major
Bloomfield, CT and St. Louis, MO preferred
Open to virtual candidates
Our 10-week summer internship runs annually from May to August
As a full-time hire into the leadership development program, you will spend two years rotating throughout different areas of the Communications department

There’s never a “typical” day on the Communications Team at Cigna – and that’s part of the reason why working with us is exciting!
During your time in the CLDP, you can expect to:
Write internal stories for our company’s intranet
Research issues for our thought leadership work
Craft posts for our external Newsroom
Help our business and corporate communications teams craft talking points and speeches for events, videos, and other tactics
