Coronavirus Resources
for Candidates

We're here to help.

Here are some of the most common questions we've received from candidates about our hiring process in response to COVID-19.

Does Cigna have a Covid-19 Vaccine Policy?

Yes, to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 within our worksites and communities, Cigna has established a new policy. This U.S. only policy will go into effect in a phased approach beginning in September of 2021.  If you are selected to be interviewed by a recruiter or if you receive an offer from Cigna or one of our subsidiaries, additional information will be shared at that time. Here is the information you'll want to be aware of now as a candidate:

  • Starting September 7th, employees whose roles are able to be performed from home (managers designate these as either flex, onsite, or work-at-home), the employee must be fully vaccinated if they have business-related travel, attend offsite Cigna-sponsored events, or work onsite at one of our owned or leased locations.
  • Beginning on October 18th, employees whose roles can only be performed onsite (managers designate these as worksite dependent) must be fully vaccinated or take an at-home self-administered COVID-19 test provided by Cigna twice each week before: working onsite at one of our owned or leased locations,  business-related travel, or attending an offsite Cigna-sponsored events.
  • More complete information about the vaccination policy as well as testing procedures for non-vaccinated employees working or interviewing on site will be shared by your recruiter or hiring manager.

If you’d like to read more about this change, please see the recent press release. Next, scroll down to review a series of FAQ's on this new policy.

Can I make my in-person interview a virtual one?

To protect your health and the health and safety of our colleagues, most interviews are now virtual.  Once the policy goes into effect, in-person interviews require the candidate to be vaccinated.  Please note that all visitors to Cigna owned or leased locations will be required to wear a mask at all times.

If you are still scheduled for an in-person interview and do not feel comfortable attending, you should notify your recruiter immediately.

At minimum, candidates will need a phone to participate in virtual interviews.

What if I feel ill on the day of my in-person interview?

If you feel sick, have a fever, or have been in close contact with a person diagnosed with COVID-19, do not attend your in-person interview.  Instead, follow the most recent guidance outlined by the CDC and your regional and local officials first.

Next, contact your recruiter to potentially switch to a virtual interview or postpone until you are well.

I'm nervous about going to a drug testing facility, what should I do?

To protect your health and safety, our drug testing facilities do not support COVID-19 testing.  We encourage you to call the facility ahead of your drug screening to ask about the precautions they're taking so you can be fully prepared.

Note: Extensions will not be granted for drug testing.

My start date is coming up soon. Is Cigna offering work from home accommodations for new employees?

Some new hires will be eligible to work from home. Please reach out to your recruiter before your first day to discuss this further.

Is Cigna, Evernorth, Express Scripts, MDLIVE, and their other subsidiaries still hiring?

Covid-19 U.S. Vaccine Policy : Q & A's

Q: Why is Cigna requiring U.S. employees to be vaccinated to go to a worksite?

A: Cigna leaders have taken into account guidance from agencies such as the CDC, public health departments, and regulatory bodies and believe the vaccine is a very important and welcomed development in the fight to end this pandemic. We encourage you to get vaccinated when you’re able to do so. As a federal contractor, Cigna has been encouraged to adopt a mandatory testing and vaccination program.

Q:  Who does this policy apply to?

A: This Policy applies to all U.S. Cigna employees including interns, leadership program participants and co-ops.  Worksite-dependent employees will need to either be vaccinated or will be required to test twice a week at home and provide a negative test to enter a worksite. Remote and or Flex employees do not have the option to test and then enter the workplace; they must be vaccinated to enter a worksite.

Q: When is someone considered fully vaccinated under the Policy?

A:  For the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, someone is considered fully vaccinated 14 calendar days after one shot.

For the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine, someone is considered fully vaccinated 14 calendar days after the second shot.

Q: What if I am unable to receive the vaccine due to a medical condition or religious/cultural beliefs?

A:  Cigna is accommodating unvaccinated flex and work at home employees by allowing remote work.

Unvaccinated, worksite-dependent employees will be given the option of testing twice a week in lieu of vaccination.

Q: Am I required to disclose my vaccination status during the hiring process?

A:  No, you will not be required to disclose your vaccination status during the hiring process. However, only vaccinated candidates will be permitted to participate in on-site interviews.

Q: I still have questions about this policy and how it will affect me?

A:  We are activley monitoring all questions and will be update this section of the website regularly. To help answer any immediate questions, please ask our ChatBot or if you are already in touch with a recruiter, please share your questions with them via email.
