How we hire
So, you’ve just applied to a position with Cigna...
Congratulations! You’re one step closer to a meaningful and inspiring career. Within 24 hours you will receive an email confirming we’ve received your application.
What happens next? Well, here’s what the typical hiring process at #TeamCigna looks like:
Recruiter Phone Interview
There are multiple factors that determine how long it takes for us to get back to you on next steps. Rest assured, a recruiter is reviewing your application. We want to select the candidates that most align with our culture and the skills and experiences needed to do the job. In most cases, it can take anywhere from one to three weeks to know if you’ve moved on to the interview stage after submitting your application.
Hiring Manager & Team Interviews
This is your chance to meet the key decision makers for the role. Depending on the size and scope of the role, you may meet with one, two, or even five or more team members. We’re super collaborative, fun, and want to ensure you are just as passionate about helping others as we are.
Offer - Congratulations!
You like us, we like you, and we think you might be just what we need at #TeamCigna. If you accept, (and we hope you do!) we will execute your background check, drug test, and nicotine test.
We’re a company that believes in your health - so much so that we strive to support healthy habits. As an example, if you are offered a position and test positive for nicotine, although we won’t be able to initially complete the offer for employment, we encourage you to consult a medical provider to explore your options and resources for quitting. Once you’re tobacco-free, you may re-apply for jobs with Cigna in six months.
Beginning with job offers dated January 1, 2014, Cigna no longer hires - where state law permits - applicants who use tobacco products. This includes cigarettes, cigars and chewing or smokeless tobacco. Currently, these states are: AL, AK, AZ, AR, DE, FL, GA, HI, IA, ID, KS, MD, MA, MI, NE, OH, PA, TX, UT, VT and WA.
Special note: We tend to get a lot of interest in our posted positions, so our hiring process can take some time. Don’t be discouraged if you don’t hear back from us right away. You can log back into your profile at any time to check the status of your application.
